ISSN – 2763-6283 – Design Researchers Seminars

The proposal to create the Design Researchers Seminars at the Anhembi Morumbi University (UAM), from the second half of 2006, sought to comply with the principle of inseparability and equivalence between the Teaching, Research and Extension practices proposed in the Brazilian Constitution. In addition to offering recognized Teaching activities, UAM, with this proposal led by the Master in Design, gave visibility to the promotion of institutional investigations and, mainly, led and provided Extension practices offering the possibility to students, teachers and interested parties of interlocution with researchers other national and international institutions.

Open to the participation of the population, the Seminars have disseminated, since their establishment, the results of investigations in the field of culture and technological and scientific research. Its reach – initially face-to-face and, in sequence, virtual – provided and continues to promote the dissemination of these results and also guaranteed, over more than a decade, the consolidation of the relationship between the community and the university when receiving in these events, researchers and students from other institutions, as well as interested parties belonging to the business, industrial and commercial circuits. In this way, it emphasized its main characteristic, that of possibilities of intense exchanges of knowledge in the specific scope of Design in its varied dimensions and in its contemporary practices.

The activities of the UAM Master’s Semesters in Design Seminars, later called Design Researchers Seminars from the implementation of the Doctorate level (2013) aimed at training professionals in the Design area with the necessary skills and abilities according to the area documents, but also with a critical view of society, intending to contribute with a differentiated profile and prominence in the labor markets and in terms of knowledge production. This relationship between the institution and the community contributes to the valorization and defense of education in the country, thus showing the specific contribution of PPGDesign from Universidade Anhembi Morumbi.
